2015 NCWSA National Champions

Updated: Jul 28, 2020

The Ragin’ Cajun Waterski Team has won the 2015 Collegiate National Championships!  The Team dominated the whole weekend, winning the National title and also making history by winning every event; Women’s and Men’s Slalom; Trick; and Jump.

They proved that they are the best team in the country!

While winning the team overall title, skiers also earned individual medals in their events.  In Women’s Slalom, all five skiers earned top ten spots with Taryn Grant winning gold with 5.5 @ 38off and Giannina Bonnemann third with 3.5 @ 38off.

The Men’s Slalom team earned top spot with Benjamin Stadlbaur and Dane Mechler tying for fourth with 3.5 @ 39off.

In Trick, both the Men’s and Women’s team came out on top with three women and three men placing in the top ten. Brody Newton earned a spot on the podium with a bronze medal score of 4870 points.

The Women’s Jump team again dominated with all five skiers placing in the top ten. Giannina Bonnemann came second with 147ft, Taryn Grant third with 145ft, and Charlotte Wharton fifth with 137ft.

In Men’s Jump, three skiers placed in the top ten with Christopher Wharton winning back to back titles with a jump of 171ft.

In individual Overall, the Ragin Cajun's had four skiers on the podium. Taryn Grant winning overall, Charlotte Wharton tied for second, and Brittany Greenwood came fourth. In Men’s Overall, Dane Mechler tied for fourth.

Every individual on the team contributed towards this National Championship win. The entire team skied amazing throughout the tournament and in all three events. Without each skier on this team, a win would not have been possible!

Sadly, this was the last collegiate nationals for four of our seniors, Benjamin Stadlbaur, Christopher Wharton, Charlotte Wharton, and Brittany Greenwood. The memories of this past weekend will last forever! We are proud of everyone for the hard work and dedication that was put into winning this National Championship!

A thank you must go out to Ryan Gonzales our Advisor and Head Coach, we are so pleased you could be a part of this winning TEAM.

A special shout out and thank you to our Team Captain, Cole Grant! He gives so much of his time to helping out this team and pushing everyone to be the best they can be! Without his drive ad vision he had for the UL team, we would not have been able to achieve what we did.

Thank you to everyone who was cheering the Cajuns on, both on site and across the world!

We appreciate each and every one of you! Knowing we hace people behind us, supporting us, helps us do what we love!

Last but not least, we need to achnowledge the ongoing support and motivation we receive from all the Ragin' Cajuns Alumni!

Geaux Cajuns!
